Our History

Our History

Fred J. Clark was the original name of Clark Funeral Home being started by Fred Julian Clark, Sr. in 1912 in Hawkinsville, GA.  In 1914 the name was changed to Fred Julian Clark Furniture and Undertaking.

In 1927, Fred Julian Clark, Jr. went to work with his father. After graduating from Cincinnati College of Embalming in 1929, he returned to Hawkinsville and the name of the funeral home changed to Clark Funeral Home.

On December 21, 1939, Open House was held for Clark Funeral Home in the building it occupies today.

In the 1940’s David Clark became a partner with his father and brother, and the three ran the business until Mr. Fred Julian Clark’s death.

On June 29, 1969 Open House was held for the building as it is in its present state.

After the death of Fred Clark, Jr. and David Clark, the funeral home was run by Fred J. Clark, III. In 2010 Christopher Holmes Clark joined the staff as a licensed funeral director and embalmer making him the fourth generation of the family to work in the business.

As always, courteous, sympathetic service continues today and will continue into the future.
