Thomas Randolph Coody passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23rd, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 2nd, 1952 in Hawkinsville, Georgia, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Robert Coody. After graduating from Hawkinsville High School in 1970, he graduated with his degree in Agri-Business from The University of Georgia in 1974. Married since 1982 to the love of his life, Joni, they share four children and five grandchildren.
Randy began his career in the healthcare industry in the early 80’s, holding countless roles within the industry and in the many companies he created. He served his community in numerous roles over the years including Board of Trustees of The Westfield Schools, Board of Directors of Planters First Bank, Board of Directors of Community Health Services, and Board of Directors of Taylor Regional Hospital. He was a devoted and faithful leader of his church, Hawkinsville First United Methodist, serving on many committees and in innumerable ways over the course of his life. Through all of his many roles and his career in healthcare, his true love was returning to his roots as the visionary of his family farm, Walking Water Farm.
As a child, Randy spent many happy years with his loving grandparents, numerous cousins, and extended family. Randy adored his parents, and doted on them in their later years. He cherished his wife Joni, and together they proudly raised four children. But his favorite source of pride was his five beautiful grandchildren.
Randy loved to travel, the outdoors, good food, Motown, and laughing around the dinner table. He was famous in his family for calling a Coody Family Meeting, quoting The Lion King, and dancing.
Coot, as he was affectionately known to his closest friends and family, is survived by his wife, Joni, his children Maggie, Brince, Abbye and Asa; children- in-love, David, Laura Lyn, Austin and Cheyenne; grandchildren Henry Griffin, Harris Coody, Samuel Griffin, Rand Coody, and Cameron Coody; brother Bruce (Susan) Coody, and sister Dinah Childers; along with so many special nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Hawkinsville First United Methodist Church, with a visitation starting at 1:00 pm prior to the service in the church, with Rev. Jack Varnell officiating.
Randy will be buried near his parents in the Coody Family Cemetery, surrounded by those that came before him, and overlooking the land that he loved so dearly.
