Patricia Sue Halstead Southwell, passed away peacefully at her residence on September 5, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 24, 1949, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, a place that remained close to her heart throughout her life.
A native of Hawkinsville, Patricia graduated from Hawkinsville High School and Middle Georgia College before moving to Atlanta. She began her career at Coca-Cola and later worked for the Georgia Department of Human Resources, where she remained until her retirement. After retiring, she returned to Hawkinsville. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Patricia found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She loved weaving, shopping, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Those who knew her will remember the warmth she brought to family gatherings and the steady presence she offered to the people she loved.
She is survived by her sisters, Jessie Dorsey and Myra Hurst and her husband, Bill, and by her sister-in-law, Kathy Christopher and her husband, Ben. She also leaves behind a loving circle of nieces and nephews: Matt Dorsey and his wife, Heather; Rex Dorsey; Adam Hurst and his wife, Audra; Hall Hurst; P.K. Hurst and his wife, Kimberly; and Matt Christopher and family. She is also survived by her great nephews, Jake Dorsey, Walt Hurst and Gordon Hurst, and by her great niece, Addyson Dorsey. Her family will continue to cherish her memory and the love she shared with them.
She was preceded in death by her father, B.K. Halstead; her mother, Helen Halstead; her husband, Gregory Dean Southwell; her niece, Amanda Christopher; and her brother-in-law, Zeke Dorsey.
A funeral service will be held on September 8, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home, 142 Commerce St, Hawkinsville, Georgia 31036. Dr. Don McClung will be officiating the service. Burial will be private in the family plot at Orange Hill Cemetery.
Patricia will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew her. The family would like to thank all of Mrs. Patricia's caregivers, Josie Moore and her granddaughter, Jackie Kerney and several others.
