Jane Langford Gray

Jane Langford Gray of Greenville, South Carolina died peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

Jane was born in Hawkinsville, Georgia to the late Eugene Reese Langford and Vera Cobb Langford. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Asheville, North Carolina where she served on the Administrative Board and chaired the Family Life Committee. She was a member of the Inquirers Sunday School Class for many years.

Jane worked a number of years in real estate, having most recently been affiliated with Coldwell Banker Caine in Greenville, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwin Gray; her parents, her brother-in-law, George Clinton Hawkins; and her nephew, George Clinton Hawkins, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Samuel Christopher Kimel and daughter-in-law Stacy Reed Kimel of Knoxville, Tennessee; her daughter, Stacey Kimel Kitchens and son-in-law, Dr. George Gray Kitchens, Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina; and her sister, Carol Langford Hawkins of Asheville, North Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren whom she adored, Ty and Will Kimel and Ava, Kate and Lila Kitchens; bonus granddaughters, Kathleen and Lindsay Levy; and her sweetheart, Ben Henry Griffin, Jr. of Cordele, Georgia.

The family would like to thank her caregivers Teka Mitchell, Quiona Bowens, and Loreece Gantt for the loving care and support.

Jane will be remembered for her kind heart, unfailing faith, sense of humor and devotion to those whom she loved.

A gathering and celebration of life was held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Creekside Clubhouse, 19 Creekside Way, Asheville, North Carolina. The family will conduct a graveside memorial service at 11a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Orange Hill Cemetery in Hawkinsville, Georgia.
