James Marcus Smith

Mr. James Marcus Smith, age 89, a native of Wilcox County, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at The Place At Martinez in Augusta, Georgia. A Graveside Service will be held Monday May 26, 2025 at 11:00 am at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Randy Wells officiating with the help of Derek Yawn, Michael Taylor and Earl Smith.

Marcus was a member of the Baptist faith and was a 21 ½ year retired veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was employed by contractors at the Army Post in Augusta Georgia after retiring from the Air Force.

He loved bass fishing and cooking. Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, Macie Earl Smith and Willie Mae Marchman Smith; brother, Franklin Smith; sisters, Ruby McDuffie, Louise Wells Ball and Lorene Mashburn.

Survivors include his son, Michael Bradley Taylor of Augusta, Ga.; daughter, Joely Lynette Latham of Tupelo, OK.; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Marie Bernard of Hawkinsville, Ga.; brother-in-law, Vernon Mashburn of Finleyson Ga.; special friend, Frances Malone of Augusta, Ga.
