d. February 18, 2025

Battle Ground, Washington

James Welch, "Jim" Moore, age 83 of Battle Ground, Washington passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 from complications of Parkinson's Disease with family by his side.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late James W. Moore and Ida Lee Moore.

After growing up in Hawkinsville, Georgia, Jim attended the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree. After graduation, he worked for several large corporations which included Dupont, Georgia Kraft and General Electric. Before his work with General Electric, he was contracted with Kuljian Corporations of Philadelphia in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. With Kuljian, he was Start Up Manager and later promoted to Resident Construction Manager of the largest desalination plant in the world. After the contract in Saudi Arabia was finished, Jim went to work for General Electric. His work with GE extended world wide, which sent him to many countries along within the United States.

GE eventually transferred him to the Pacific Northwest as Power Generations Manager.

In addition to traveling with his wife, Mary Cay, Jim loved the mountains in the PNW. Hiking, biking, snow shoeing and camping in his RV was always on his schedule, but his first love was snow skiing. Over the years, during ski season, you would, most likely, find Jim on the slopes of Mt. Hood Meadows. In his early years, he was a volunteer for the National

Ski Patrol in Grand Targee, Wyoming and Cataloochie ski resort in North Carolina.

Jim was a member of Columbia Presbyterian Church in Vancouver, Washington.
