Glenna Sue Painter, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence in Hawkinsville, Georgia, on July 3, 2025. Born on March 8, 1949, in Monticello, Kentucky, Glenna grew to embody warmth and kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her.
A proud retiree of the Keebler Company in Macon, Georgia, Glenna had a fulfilling career that she approached with dedication and a strong work ethic. Beyond her professional life, she embraced a variety of hobbies and interests, most notably her love for yard sales and collecting antiques. Glenna also found joy in exploring the seas, relishing the experiences that came with each cruise she took.
Glenna was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments, a testament to her strong familial bonds that she cherished throughout her life. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Raymond Painter; her sons, Donnie Kay Gregory and James Michael Thomas; her daughter, Tammy Renea Smith; her brother, Leonard Slavin; her sister, Joyce Carter; and a legacy of love embodied in her 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Buryl and Lytha Slavin, as well as her sister, Georgia Slavin Newcomer; her brothers, Arnold Slavin and Jerry Slavin; her son, Samuel Thomas Gregory; and her daughter, Kandi Martin. Though she will be deeply missed, Glenna's spirit and joyful memories will remain etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Private burial services will be held at Parkway Memorial Gardens in Warner Robins, Georgia. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
