Artie Marie Layman Staples

Mrs. Artie Marie Layman Staples, age 67, of Hawkinsville, Georgia passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Fairview Hospital in Dublin, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2025 in the chapel of Clark Funeral Home with Rev. James Alexander, Rev. Don Whitaker and Mr. Paul Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Vienna City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, September 30, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Mrs. Staples was a native of Baxley, Georgia and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Hartford, Georgia. Marie was a loving mother and homemaker. She had taught at the Lumpkin Street Head Start Pre-school in Hawkinsville, Georgia. Marie loved singing in the church choir, crocheting and playing Candy Crush. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Artie Lowe Layman; daughter, Lisa Layman and sister, Maureen Bridges.

Survivors include her husband, Hugh Staples; sons, Teddy (Wanda) Layman, Timothy (Bobbie) Layman, Jamie (Sarah) Walker, Walter (Ken) Walker, Jepty (Faith); daughter, Tina (James) Layman; step-daughter, Tara Staples (Jay) and 20 grandchildren.
