Arthur Ray Proffitt

    Mr. Arthur Ray Proffitt, age 75, of Hawkinsville, Ga., passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 22, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Antioch No. 1 Baptist Church, 3233 Antioch Church Rd., Eastman, GA 31023 with Rev. Fred Parker and Teryn Barnett officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch No. 1 Baptist Church cemetery.

    Mr. Proffitt was a native of Wilcox County, Ga. and a member of First Baptist Church, but attended Antioch Baptist. Ray and Elizabeth were married for 56 years. He was formerly employed by Heileman Brewery and Lithonia Lighting Company. Ray loved hunting, archery and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grands. He loved his beloved pets, Kitzy and Violet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Essie Arthur and Elizabeth Odessa McDuffie Proffitt; his two sons, Ian Ray Proffitt and Ryan Arthur Proffitt; brother, Robert Proffitt, sister, Phyllis Proffitt and grandson Payton Proffitt.

    Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Proffitt; daughter, Jennifer Gills; brothers, Johnny, Kennith (Debra) Eugene Proffitt; sister, Sharyon Schwartz (Seth); grandchildren, Caleb, Teryn, Cody, Taylor, Madison, Megan, Elizabella, Gannon; Great-grandchildren, Grayson, Cali Grace, Lakelynn, Kyler, Ozzy, Kove, Keanu, Jovi, Kash and Malachi.

    Clark Funeral Home of Hawkinsville, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.
