Harriett Glynn Anderson of Hawkinsville, Georgia, passed away on September 23 at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, Georgia. A service in her memory will be held on October 4, 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hawkinsville with Reverend Don McClung officiating. Her cremains will rest in the columbarium at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Hawkinsville. Miss Anderson was born on August 2, 1939, in Atlanta, Georgia. She lived in Atlanta until after graduating from college at Georgia State University. Afterwards, Harriett went to Denver, Colorado, where she began a career with Camp Fire Girls United, an organization for youth development that dealt with young women originally, but today is co-ed. From Denver, Harriett moved to Baltimore, Maryland, still with the Camp Fire organization, and eventually became employed with Citi-Group Corporation where she worked until she retired. After retirement, Harriett moved to Hawkinsville to be close to her family and her great nieces and nephews, all of whom she especially adored, and they, her. While living in Hawkinsville, Harriett enjoyed decorating her house, traveling with relatives and friends, developing closer relationships with her many relatives living in the area, and babysitting and dealing with the carpool line at her nephews’ schools. She loved picking her nephews up from school and taking them to her house to play, where she even kept a “treasure chest” for them to open. She began working at M. E. Roden Library, where she had a part time job that she came to love and where she made many new friends and acquaintances. Harriett never stopped loving life, making friends, maintaining old friendships, and traveling. Harriett is survived by four siblings: Marshall Herren Anderson and wife Margaret of Cumming, Georgia; Carol Anderson Krueger and husband Bob, and Rebecca Ellen Anderson, all of Hawkinsville; and Vivian Elizabeth Anderson and husband Ivan Johnson of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In addition, she has many nieces and nephews and cousins. Gone before Harriett in death are Virginia Glynn and William Dudley Anderson, her parents, and Dudley Michael Anderson, her beloved older brother.
